I had the pleasure of sampling décor pieces from Talking Tables for a recent gathering to shoot.
The UK-based design-led partyware company carries a variety of products, some of which includes: seasonal decorations for parties, special events, weddings, and even games.
Thankfully, we were able to do our evening of welcoming autumn within a couple of days from our pre-Halloween film night, which was perfect. Telling everyone that we’re having a weekend filled with game night activities was basically the easiest thing to do, especially when I mentioned that culinary bites were included.
This tablescape was so enjoyable to put together because everything was budget-friendly, ninety-percent of the pieces used in this creation paper products, and the branded patterns offered are marvellous. I implemented an accent of copper colour in this theme by adding place card tags to the plates, then I used miniature crackers to add a special touch to each place setting.
I could have gone over the top with the myriad options the brand offers. However, I chose to stick with a golden theme. White, gold, and ivory were the workable colours in my palette, then burgundy was used to break up the gold hues. The only thing that was a bit troublesome was the tablecloth, although in the end it still looked okay. My designing eye wanted to banish creases embedded in the folds, and with the film backing it was quite a task and could not be ironed. The design is so lovely, which helped to mask some of the indentations and it was fine for the occasion.
Style blurb: These enchanting plates above are all quality paper products, the golden cutlery is actually plastic, but has the sumptuous aesthetic of fine cutlery with the faux filigree styling.
Here are four suggestions to help you prep for your themed table.
- Don’t Be Afraid To Go Off-Script: We have two dining tables, and both are on the longer side since we entertain quite often. I decided to take a leaf out and make one table smaller to suit the paper table covering. As a result, this worked out better and I was able to showcase these brilliant stag napkins ga bit more. There’s nothing wrong with planning, just be sure to know that something will always happen off the agenda. It’s okay. Think fast, and stay positive!
- Paper Can Be Elegant: I’ve said it many times, there are plenty of ways to create a lavish looking party table or opulent setting on a budget. Do away with the notion that paper items cannot be elegant. Period. As you can see from my selections, remarkable options are bountiful on the site. It will take you a moment to peruse, but you will be smiling the whole time! Trust me.
- Add a Creative Centrepiece! It doesn’t have to be one with a traditional aesthetic. My actual centrepiece revolves around three main pieces as focal points. I used fresh stem-cut flowers, a vase that I filled with metallic rocks, and a glitter reindeer. It’s unique enough, striking, and non-traditional.
- Decorate Beyond The Space! Often, when you’re a newbie to decorating and entertaining, you fail to realise that your décor doesn’t have to stop with one space of decorating. I know it may seem like an insurmountable task, but I promise, it’s not! Decorating throughout the home or even in a studio space can be fun—using graphic décor (signage), this DIY crepe project, or a simple garland will help to tie everything together. I used a reindeer stag garland: it’s easy, fitting to the theme, and didn’t take too much time to string together. Even small details, e.g., a wreath on the door or areas along the foyer can add a special touch.
