Tropical Décor

Let’s face it, there’s nothing like a glorious day of sunshine. What’s even better is a bright spring day full of party planning, and background music with refreshing libations to follow. Indoor and outdoor celebrations can be equally fun! This time, I had the challenge of creating an easygoing Luau theme. This is why I decided to do our theme with a blended outdoor flair due to the drizzling rain before sunshine and warm evening breeze—the beauty of spring

What’s on the menu? We’re keeping it simple: poke, marinated salmon, grilled chicken (with vegan options), chilled kelp noodle salad, roasted sweet potatoes, grilled zucchini and aubergine skewers, and of course, the drinks of your choice. Click the video below to set the mood as you enjoy the scenery and entertaining décor from the tablescape that I’ve prepared for you.

Remember these palm leaves? I’ve used them again and created two miniature table runners. All you need to do is hot glue the ends together in a random pattern. I made these table runners by using palm leaves in threes, then placed the leaves at the ends of each side of the table. The leaves are already a statement in scale and colour, therefore this makes a quick tabletop accent without embellishment overkill.

Have you been to a Luau before? One of the things that I love about a luau is that they are generally all about enjoyment, entertainment, and a delicious feast. No need to check your mobiles for social stats, because it’s about saturating yourself in that sort of laidback happiness.

If you’ve had a tough week at all, take the pressure off and relax, perhaps have some pineapple or make delicious coconut energy nuggets packed with nutrients and protein. I actually decided on a piña colada version of ice cream (no churning necessary) with grilled pineapple and toasted coconut, which is quite perfect on a warm day.

(Above): Make a budget-friendly setting. If you have a lot of people coming over or want children to join in on the fun, opt for colourful paperware/dinnerware. Then, blend in your light-hued linens with a few key accents: I used a pale satin tablecloth and contrasted that with an overlayed burlap table runner.

I used raffia placemats and added a palm leaf to each one along with different florals: hibiscus, and leis. The Polynesian tiki table torches were added because they are just fun elements for any tropical-themed party! Buy them here.

Have you had a Hawaiian themed party? What do you think of these fun decorations?
