Festive Receptions

There’s no better time to add dashes of sparkle to your décor than the holiday season. And, when it involves an intimate gathering of close friends and family members to celebrate the nuptials of a darling couple, you just might want that extra gilded glamour.

I had the pleasure of putting together some festive styling with combining a few of my favourite elements for a post-wedding event: Christmas rose gold and florals. These are merely a handful of ideas that I had conjured up in the midst of preparing my own seasonal decorations.

Marry Me and Oriental Trading has a lovely collection of Christmas décor and wedding pieces and I was able to incorporate both ranges for this theme.

Simple Drama: Glistening Gold

A celebration by candlelight and evening opulence meets countryside charm—guests are embraced by holiday ornaments hanging on garlands, and poinsettia place settings. This, all to remind you of the holiday season upon us and that there really is something quite magical about this special time of year.

I took on the challenge of illuminating masculine elements with feminine accents, which surprisingly balanced the décor almost seamlessly. Stags with miniature piles of wood slices, and porcelain candlestick antlers were paired against shimmering black sisal trees, chocolate pinecones, and cream coloured tapers for a dark romantic take on the celebration.

I used red as an accent with black and gold as the statement colours. If you want to save money on bouquets, then make a centrepiece with garland and mixed flowers. I used a boxwood garland to outline a rectangular container, then added a motley arrangement, including roses, eucalyptus leaves, and various floral sprays. Spruce The Mood

Candles, in my opinion, make everything a bit more elegant. Sometimes, I will just make a simple weeknight dinner, dim the lights and add a couple of candles to our ambience. Your dinner will instantly become a little romantic. Try it, even if it’s a takeaway nightYour mood changes, in a good way, and you can thank me later!

Now, for this décor, I used globe-like mercury glass ornaments that also moonlights as brilliant terrariums. Their reflective aesthetic gave off a luxurious quality that I felt was needed for such a special occasion. Let me save you money by using printed napkin rings—these poinsettia cut napkin rings are the perfect addition to a budget-friendly sophisticate. However, I used them as a decoration alongside the place cards.

A wintry wonderland of gold it was, and as you can see I tried to express a more progressive way of thinking what holiday glam looks like, or what a winter reception should be. The answer is that it can be whatever you imagine it to be. Just create balance, have consistently with your theme, and choose your pieces wisely. Here’s inspiration for more holiday styling and decorating tips here.
