Summer Comfort & Family Fun & [Pirates]

Summertime makes nautical accessories and coastal homeware all the more interesting when it comes to decorating.

Embracing coastal living and nautical elements are purely natural for me since I have always been fascinated by lighthouses and sailboats. Even as a child when I would visit the beach and go on boat rides, it’s something that I never tire of.

Cracker Barrel’s new summer collection merges the two quite well, and with so many pieces to choose from, you don’t have to actually have an abundance of nautical pieces to make your space look amazing. Enter, these random but great individual pieces that have caught my eye.

There are blankets for campfire cuddles or bonfire moments, lanterns for your evening outdoor entertaining and indoor lamps if you don’t want to leave your humble oasis.

If you’re into under the water themes, this tea set is a charming one. I loved it and wished that I had a rocking chair as I listened to the melodic pattering of raindrops on the windowpanes. Rocking chair? I know, I am definitely getting older!

It’s simple pleasures these days, and I’m not cross about it!

Pirate book

This pirate book could have a post all on its own. This is also an ideal piece for an upcoming birthday party theme. My friend’s son will be turning 6 years old and loves pirates; my nephew is also obsessed with pirates. I am coming up with fun DIY pieces and hopefully will be able to share some of them on my Instagram Stories later on.

If you’re curious about intricately detailed pop-up books, then you’re going to geek out about this version — it’s full of splendour and historic bits to love. The book is compiled with delightfully mysterious little quests, playful accessories and thematic hands-on pieces to get [your group] involved. Tales of Blackbeard and more.

Don’t think for a minute that the Pirateology book is only for children! This is a rare book that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age. I already have a few similar books, one of which is a brilliant spy-like MI6 type of book that is essentially a spy game and you are the agent, there’s also one on dinosaurs and Egyptian Art, etc.
