Jars Ceramics & Emile Henry: Modern French Dining

Part: One

There’s an artful elegance in imperfections—and Jars Céramistes (JarsWabi Collection embodies just that. Rooted in a calm aesthetic of wabi-sabi, these French-crafted ceramics exude quiet luxury through organic forms and soft, earth-toned palettes.

Each piece feels considered yet effortless, the sort of refined rusticity that elevates a simple table into a soulful tablescape. Whether styled with seasonal florals or layered alongside tonal linens, Wabi is less about perfection and more about intentional beauty in the everyday. I am featuring this collection in two parts because it’s just that stunning.

The Wabi Calebasse Bowl by Jars is a testament to the beauty of imperfection, inspired by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi. Handcrafted in the South of France, this bowl features a unique glaze achieved through superimposed ash layers applied by ladle or brush, resulting in a glossy and deep finish with multiple contrasts. Measuring approximately 20 x 17 cm with a height of 7 cm, it’s crafted from grog clay—a stoneware that includes small pieces of crushed fired clay—offering a textured feel and robust durability. This bowl is both dishwasher and microwave-safe, ensuring practicality along with its aesthetic appeal.

Dinnerware simplified.

With actual use and entertaining in mind, the Wabi Collection is practical too—dishwasher and microwave safe with a durability that matches its style. These are heirloom-worthy pieces made for the rhythm of modern life. I am talking proper usage from family dinner to hosting a weekend brunch. The Wabi line invites you to slow down and savour life’s moments.

As you can tell, this collection is one of my favourites. It’s that rustic elegance I am always for: a tactile expression of elegance, fitting for homes that tell stories through their objects that hold memories.

From Fridge to Table

If you’re a cheese lover who also loves functional and timeless kitchen essentials, the Emile Henry Cheese Box might just be your next favourite buy. Crafted in France with the brand’s signature High-Resistance ceramic, this thoughtfully designed box blends form and function. Its modern, minimalist style will hold loads of your gourmet cheeses. It’s heavy-duty, so you don’t have to worry about it being fragile, as you can use it for versatile functions.

It’s small enough to store in the refrigerator but large enough to accommodate some of the best cheeses any epicure would cherish. Designed with versatility and elegance in mind and a touch of a classic French fromagerie, this box comfortably stores up to 10 cheeses. The lid’s dual function as a serving tray allows you to entertain with ease, whether it’s for date night or a crowd.

I’ve already used the versatile lid for a rustic soirée and date night fruit and cheese tray. It’s smart and adorably chic! Why not have a seasonal party or impromptu gathering with a curated cheese board.

What a gorgeous collection. I love pieces that have a modern look but also rustic elements. It makes for proper timeless pieces. I have a pizza stone by Emile Henry and love it to bits. It’s such great quality. I’ve wanted to explore more of this brand, I didn’t realise they did plates and platters. Thanks for the heads up!

This is such an artful and beautiful collection. Indeed there can be artful elegance in imperfections and these pieces really do illustrate that point. You always set the loveliest tables Madison. I did not know there was such a thing as a cheese box. I do need one but it looks so pretty.

They really do make quality pieces. I need a new cutting board at some point. And not sure if you heard but Sur Latable filed for chapter 11 so sad. Kind of like what I was talking about on my blog with so much change…
